♫ Smooth Jazz Radio — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-12
Smooth Jazz Radio is a browser-extension tuner for curated smooth-jazz internet radio. It is designed to collect as little data as possible.
What we collect
Nothing on a server. Smooth Jazz Radio has no backend of its own.
Locally, in your browser only, the extension stores:
- Your favorite stations
- The last station you played (so it can pick up where you left off)
- Your volume level and settings
- A short-lived cache of the radio-browser.info mirror used for the click counter
This data lives in chrome.storage.local on your device and is never transmitted anywhere by us.
What we share with third parties
- radio-browser.info — the community catalog our curated station list is built from. When you start a station, the extension sends an anonymous click ping for that station (this is how the public catalog ranks station popularity). Requests carry a generic
User-Agent(SmoothJazzRadio/<version>). No identifier of you is sent. - Radio station broadcasters — when you play a station, your browser connects directly to that broadcaster's public stream URL. The broadcaster sees the same information any visitor of their website would: your IP address and basic HTTP headers. We have no relationship with these broadcasters and don't mediate the connection.
What we do not do
- We don't record audio.
- We don't strip or insert ads into streams.
- We don't track which stations you play, or build any profile of you.
- We don't use analytics or telemetry of any kind.
